James Hickey’s Background:
James Hickey is a Los Angeles based fashion photographer. When he was young he handled the family’s Canon AE-1. His interest hit the next level when he began collaborating with a model/photographer while taking photography courses at a local university. Shooting and developing his own film combined with access to a savvy muse gave him his starting point for later studies in fashion photography.
Once James completed his Mechanical Engineering degree his attention shifted from photography to his new carrier as an engineer. Given exposure to major corporations like Boeing and Toyota, James honed his problem solving skills and professionalism. Then, with the advent of digital photography replacing film, James rekindled his photographic interests and creativity.
Combining his confidence and sensibilities gained as an engineer and the entry of the DSLR to the market place, James decided to challenge himself as a creative professional. He did this knowing the changes in digital technology would redefine the marketplace and create new opportunities similar to what AutoCAD had done for engineering. He learned having a sound handle on current technology trends is necessary to be able to gain leverage in a changing marketplace.
Within 6 months of buying his first DSLR in 2002, James made his full time transition into photography. In 2005 he moved to Los Angeles and opened his current studio. The city of Los Angeles quickly worked out for him as he built alliances with several local designers who brought him consistent work. His creative style and photographic expertise has earned him a highly respected and admired reputation within the industry.
To those wishing to attend, this class will be limited to 30 attendees and is being offered on a first come first serve basis. So don’t delay, sign up today.
