CIPPA programs 2021, Upcoming Events for Feb and Mar. submitted by Mike Mercadante
What's new for 2021, continuing to adapt. Adapting to Covid and Virtual gathers has been challenging but it has presented CIPPA with an opportunity to refine what we do, leverage technology and the each other's ideas. Our focus is on making CIPPA more valuable to our members. So we are taking to heart the ideas on the member survey and meeting inputs to try out some additions to our program calendar this year. Here are some examples.
Image Safari's - I wanted to introduce CIPPA Image Safari's for 2021 as a way for us to go out shooting, and review the images, all while keeping socially distanced.
The concept is that each month we will select a locations and image categories for members to shoot anytime during the month, followed by a Zoom Safari review, at the end of the month, where you can submit 2 of your images and get constructive feedback from other members. Images can be from up to 45 days in advance of the image review.
Image Competition Review – During 2021 I will be scheduling an Competition Review Zoom meeting the week after competition. We want to celebrate and recognize each other's merit images and to learn from each other. The meeting will be structured as a review where members can share information about their competition images and get constructive inputs from other members on how to elevate their work.

Presentation - Artistic Expression & Visual Language
Speaker – Guy Tal
Site – www.guytal.com
Guy Tal is a professional photographic artist, speaker, instructor and author. In his work, Guy seeks to create meaningful interpretations, bridging the gap between the realm of the objective and documentary, and that of thoughts and emotions inspired by wildness and wilderness. Guy believes that the proper expression of gratitude for a life of adventure and inspiration is to pay it forward, and he does so in images, writing, speaking, and teaching. Few things are as rewarding to him as sharing some of the events, stories and images that have shaped his own journey, and the lessons they inspired.
Guy is a regular contributor to such photography publications as LensWork, On Landscape, Landscape Photography Magazine and others. His presentations and talks have earned high acclaim and he is regularly invited to speak at photography events. Among his many experiences, he was a soldier in the war-torn Middle East, a university teacher, a technology professional, a business owner, a Fortune-500 IT manager and consultant, an artist, a wilderness guide, a desert rat, and a resident of a small, rural desert town. He was privileged to witness and experience immense beauty, drama and tragedy, moments of blissful solitude on mountaintops and in the depths of canyons, and lasting friendships with amazing people and magical places, all of which culminate in his evocative imagery, writing and talks.
Guy's book More Than A Rock contains a variety of essays concerning life as an artist, wildness and his experiences exploring the deserts of the American West.
